Educational Side Sessions

Care to pick the brains of some folks who know quite a bit about what they’ve been doing successfully for quite some time? Stop in and bring your guitar and take notes. You may go home smarter than you came! Sign-ups at the hotel. Do you have something you’d like to present? Drop us a note and we will work with you to set it up.

  • Basic Guitar Setup (John Hall). John will present basic guitar setup info and identify what to look for when problems may arise. 1:00 pm Sunday at Nazareth Borough Park.

  • Alternate Tunings (Spoon Phillips). Spoon will present information on using alternate tunings to vary your playing. The workshop may include demonstrations of alternate tunings by other UMGF members. 1:00 pm Sunday at Nazareth Borough Park.

  • Recording with Audigo (Rick Benjamin). Rick will give a primer on recording with the Audigo wireless mic and mobile studio app. 7:00 pm Friday at the hotel (Holiday Inn Express Easton).

  • Thumbpicking Tips and Tricks (Len Rosenberg). Len will present a lesson on thumbpicking, exploring a variety of techniques and tricks to establish thumb independence, using the iconic tune “Freight Train” and a basic blues in E as a foundation. Len will also show some chords that thumb pickers love to use, and right-hand palm muting techniques. He may also be joined by a special guest to demonstrate the material. 8:00 pm, Saturday at the hotel (Holiday Inn Express Easton).
